Some words from women who have attended my Relax, Stretch and Breathe and other antenatal classes...
"A perfect gentle introduction..."
Jamie, mum to Wren
"Having never done anything like yoga before I found this to be a perfectly gentle introduction to stretch and relaxation. I felt totally relaxed and loved the lie down under the blanket relaxation at the end. I felt it was a lovely way to bond with other women too. I can honestly say, hand on heart, I can't remember the last time I slept so soundly. I have been waking up every night since being pregnant-usually two or three times and then not being able to go back to sleep, sometimes staying awake for hours. Last night was the first in a very long time that I fell back to sleep immediately with no intrusive thoughts at all."
"I just wanted to say that the breathing stuff really worked, though I must admit I wasn't convenced at the time... so stick with it! And let the hospital know that you are doing it as they kept telling me not to go in when I called, I sounded so calm - by the time I got into the pool I was already in transition"
"Adam was born on his due date weighing 8lb 6oz... I am absolutely overwhelmed that we achieved a VBAC and with no more pain relief than gas and air and a TENS machine! I want to thank you for all your support and encouragement, I took away a lot from our time with you that really helped us in labour. I can't describe how wonderful this is compared to our last experience"
"No stitches or tears..."
Ginche, mum to George
"Cutting a long story short, my son was born at 2.43am in the water, I had no stitches or tears and although the minutes before/during the birth I felt I was dying, as soon as he was born I was SOOO grateful to the midwife for encouraging me to keep on and not to have an epidural. Now having experienced both I would highly recommend a water birth and minimal drugs...the recovery is drastically quicker going 'au naturel' "
"I found myself singing in 'whale-language'..."
Ellie, mum to Ronan
"I used lots of the things we had practised in classes during labour. Focussing on lovely long slow out breath, breathing and counting, I even found myself at one point sort of singing in 'whale-language' like Dory in 'Finding Nemo'! I honestly never felt scared, I just let my body do the work. I'm sure the classes helped with that confidence"
"The most positive experience..."
Caroline, mum to Blake
"Just to let you know that our baby arrived safe and well... thank you so much for your fantastic and extremely valuable advice in our antenatal classes, it really helped us both through the labour and birth and has made this the most positive experience out of all three births of my children"
